Loving mass media again... they still believe pumping out the same old garbage will keep next gen-y-er's interested

Todays media consumers are more and more sophisticated and are interested in niche, personally relevant content. How can the mass produced britney spears "we're better than you" compete?

New radio partnerships are struggling to woo listeners, the year's first radio ratings survey shows.

Radio station 2UE, which completely revamped its daytime line-up following John Laws' departure last year, has clearly failed to win back listeners, slumping to eighth position.

The station, led by Mike Carlton and his new breakfast partner Sandy Aloisi, was down 1.7 points and well behind longtime leader and rival, 2GB's Alan Jones.

Carlton and Aloisi's show was down 0.8 points to be the fifth most popular breakfast program, behind Nova 969's Merrick and Rosso.

2UE's morning presenter Steve Price fared even worse, dropping 2.1 points to be more than 10 points behind 2GB.

2UE was down across all time slots except on the weekends where it jumped 0.8 points.

Mix 106.5's new breakfast duo Todd McKenny and Sonia Kruger also failed to impress, the ratings show.

The Dancing with the Stars personalities dropped 1.5 points from their predecessors Sammy Power and Subby Valentine to be the biggest losers in the lucrative breakfast market.
